Safety & Security Aboard Malaillo Liveaboard

At Malaillo Liveaboard, your safety is our top priority. From the design of the vessel to our onboard protocols and crew training, every aspect of our operation has been developed with your wellbeing in mind. We understand that peace of mind is essential for a truly enjoyable experience at sea.

Our Commitment to Safety

Malaillo was built with safety as a fundamental design principle. The lower deck features an emergency exit leading to the main deck, and all decks are equipped with smoke detectors and fire alarm systems. Emergency lighting is installed in every room and on each deck to ensure visibility at all times.

In addition to physical infrastructure, we have invested in advanced technology and extensive crew training to respond quickly and effectively in any situation. Our safety equipment is regularly inspected, tested, and maintained to meet or exceed international standards.

Onboard Safety Equipment

We are fully equipped with modern safety systems and devices, including:

  • Life Rafts: 4 rafts with a total capacity of 60 passengers
  • Tender Boats: 2 aluminium rigid buoyant boat/RBB (7m x 2.3m), each with Yamaha 100HP 4-stroke engines (with one spare engine of the same specification)
  • Fire Safety: 30+ firefighting apparatus placed throughout the vessel, including thermotic fire extinguishers placed strategically above each engine and electrical equipment, and fire blankets.
  • Fire Alarm Systems: Smoke detectors and alarms installed on all decks, gas leak detector in both kitchens and heat-rise detector in the engine room
  • Emergency Lighting: DC inverter emergency lights in every cabin and public area
  • CCTV Surveillance: For constant monitoring of key areas
  • Marine Navigation & Safety Tools: Multiple GPS units and echosounders, navigation weather software
  • ENOS Diver Beacon System: Personal electronic GPS transmitters for diver safety

Diver & Medical Safety

Our medical preparedness includes:

  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Medical-grade Oxygen Supply & Pulse Oximeter
  • Comprehensive First Aid Kits
  • Trained Crew Members

Redundancy & Preparedness

To ensure uninterrupted service and readiness in all situations, Malaillo is equipped with:

  • Backup power generators and DC system emergency lights
  • Spare anchor systems (we use proper size chains, not ropes for anchoring)
  • Onboard water filtration systems
  • Signal flares and additional emergency signalling devices
